I don’t understand subscribing to music. Maybe it’s just my age, but this isn’t the ‘90s where you hear a track you like and that one song is going to run you $20 at Tower Records. I like a song, I pay $1.29 and then it’s stored locally. Also cuts way down on data usage while driving. I struggle to get anywhere close to my 5GB data allowance.

Cutting LLM token usage by 80% using recursive document analysis

Community iconc/programming@programming.dev by
cm0002@lemmy.cafe

When you employ AI agents, there’s a significant volume problem for document study. Reading one file of 1000 lines consumes about 10,000 tokens. Token consumption incurs costs and time penalties. Codebases with dozens or hundreds of files, a common case for real world projects, can easily exceed 100,000 tokens in size when the whole thing must be considered. The agent must read and comprehend, and be able to determine the interrelationships among these files. And, particularly, when the task requires multiple passes over the same documents, perhaps one pass to divine the structure and one to mine the details, costs multiply rapidly.

Had to call up a company and their hold music was Metallica’s Enter Sandman. I liked that. Got all the way to the final chorus before I got to the person I needed to talk to. What I find pretty interesting is that the wait time was briefly interrupted by someone picking up, but when they put me back on hold the music picked up where it left off instead of starting from the beginning.

Marking communities as read only for yourself. Feature request

Community iconc/piefed_meta@piefed.social by
HubertManne@piefed.social

Ok this is going to sound pretty wierd but I think the use case is solid especially going forward. So with really specific communities that you are not really a part of that you are not a part of but would like to see what comes out of it. Well it would be nice to sorta be stopped from posting or replying. Maybe not completely but to give you a warning. So my example is there is a medicine community for medical professionals (this is a bit odd for me as I did work in blood diagnostics for a few years and have a micorbiology degree but it is a long ago and relative to my age short span of my life) and I don’t view myself as part of that community. In some cases maybe I block the community if im uninteresed so I don’t peanut gallery them but in this I sorta want to see them. So it would be nice to like mark it so I see posts and replies and stuff but as I said if I reply or post it might give me a popup that says something like you marked this community read only to remind me observing a conversation of professionals that expect to be conversing with people in their own field.

Today’s game is Halo 4. I continued my playlist with my friend and we started on this. Upon replaying it, i think i may have been too harsh on my initial decision against the game (though i’m not going to 100 say it for sure). I know it seems obvious, but playing on normal as opposed to legendary really makes it a bit more tolerable. Don’t get me wrong, it’s Halo 4, but it’s come from like a 5.5/10 to a 6.5/10 for me.

Despite having to wade through the absolute bullshit of the end zone in order to complete the main story. I felt Techland did a solid job with bringing back Kyle Crane and some reoccurring characters in the franchise up till this point, Castor Woods had a great mixture of terrain to explore and parkour in. It made me think about how I could stay outside the reach of those Infected people trying to get a bite to eat out of Crane.
