Seattle is the largest city in the US state of Washington. With an estimated population of 780,000, it is the 18th-most populous city in the United States, while the wider Seattle metropolitan area exceeds four million residents. The city lies on an isthmus between Puget Sound and Lake Washington, and it is a major port and gateway for trade with the Asia-Pacific region. Founded in 1851 and named after Chief Seattle, a local Native American leader, the city grew through logging, maritime trade, and the Klondike Gold Rush. In the 20th and 21st centuries, it has been a center for aerospace and technology led by companies such as Boeing, Microsoft, and Amazon. Today, Seattle is a major hub for trade and technology, and is known for its influence on music. Was out on a bike trip in the mountains yesterday to the Eibsee. It’s one of the most Instagram overhyped locations you can find in Bavaria, but having been there I also get it. It’s just really that beautiful.
Was the perfect time, bc next to the car park the path was still snowed in, which kept a lot of people from walking around the lake I think. So far less tourists than usually. And the mountains are still snow covered, which for me is the second most beautiful state after fall colors :)
The Hualien earthquake occurred on 3 April 2024. It was a Mw 7.4 earthquake in Hualien County, Taiwan. At least 19 people were killed and over 1,100 were injured. It was the strongest earthquake to strike Taiwan since the 1999 Jiji earthquake. This photograph shows the partially-collapsed Uranus Building.

A church at the site was known by the tenth century. It was named Santa Maria Nova ("New St Mary"), to distinguish it from the other church inside the Roman forum devoted to St Mary, Santa Maria Antiqua ("Ancient St Mary"), which had fallen into ruin by then. The relics from the ancient church were moved to this church under Pope Leo. Santa Maria Nuova was enlarged in the second half of the tenth century, and then rebuilt by Pope Honorius III in the thirteenth century, adding the campanile and the apse, as well as being decorated with a mosaic Maestà, a depiction of the Madonna enthroned accompanied by saints (as seen in the picture). Since 1352 the church has been in the care of the Olivetans. In the 16th century, the church was rededicated to Frances of Rome (Francesca Buzzi), who was canonized in 1608 and whose relics are in the crypt. The interior of the church has undergone many refurbishments.
The King’s Guard adopted the penguin as their mascot in 1972 during a visit to Edinburgh for the annual Military Tattoo. The tradition has stuck and each time the Guards visit the city, Nils Olav is promoted and invited to inspect the troops once more.
The Grimsel Pass is a mountain pass in Switzerland that crosses the Bernese Alps at an elevation of 2,164 metres (7,100 ft). It connects the Haslital, the upper valley of the river Aare, with the upper valley of the Rhône. A 38-kilometre (24 mi) paved road between Gletsch and Meiringen follows the pass; owing to high snowfall, this road is generally closed between October and May. This panoramic photograph of the Grimsel Pass was taken in June 2011. The two lakes visible in the image are the Grimselsee (foreground) and the Räterichsbodensee (background).

I think my new editing workflow is doing me some favors. I really like how this turned out, there’s so much structure and chaos in the same image. Even the lighting feels a little uncanny, and yet it’s so bright! Somehow, haunting.

Polar aurorae are caused by the collision of charged particles in the solar wind with gases in the upper atmosphere. These collisions generate tiny flashes of light that fill the sky with veils of colour.
A steep valley in the north face of the Nilgiri Mountains, being in the rain shadow it gets low rainfall. Villagers have created a vibrant agrarian economy, largely vegetables and tea, using terraces and irrigation. Villages visible: Alagarmalai, Sholada, Mel Kalhatty, Kil Kalhatty, Bikkaty, Akoni, Thattaneri, Karapillu. Udhagai taluk, The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu, India.
Title basically. I tried to underexpose the shadows severely to make it look more the silhouette, but that just made it look even worse. I suppose the only way to get better pics is to find a better location. But I would appreciate if someone can give me advice on any other tricks I could use to make the sky look better and take focus away from the urban hell

Zhuhai Fisher Girl is a granite statue in Zhuhai, China, designed by Pan He and completed between 1979 and 1982. Standing 8.7 metres (29 ft) tall in Xianglu Bay and weighing about 10 tonnes, the statue is of a fisherwoman holding a pearl high in the air, inspired by a local legend recorded in various versions. Commissioned during the development of the Zhuhai Special Economic Zone, the statue was cited by supporters as enabling the city to establish its own cultural identity, though its cost and depiction sparked some controversy at the time. Since its installation, it has become part of Zhuhai’s growing tourism industry. Zhuhai Fisher Girl was designated a cultural relic in 2014, and later plans have proposed expanding the surrounding area into a larger recreational and tourist site. This photograph of the statue was taken in 2024, with part of the Zhuhai skyline in the background.
This is our lake, captured by the motorized IP camera I installed in a tree to watch nature from inside the house. I spun the camera around, taking stills at regular intervals, then stitched all the images together to create this panorama.

Are there any cameras that dont break the bank but also have decent stabilization? Ive used a tripod in the past with one of my dads old cameras (No idea what kind of Canon, but i know it used film). However, the tripod only helpped so much as the pictures were still blurry.
