Utility pole #3569108

Ever since I was a kid, I was obsessed with utility poles and transmission towers. I have tons of random photos of them, I painted them, drew them, made linocuts of them, 3d models in blenderโ€ฆ I have utility poles enframed on the wall over my monitorโ€ฆ just below a linocut of a transmission tower.

A guy is trying to hold many limes. There are too many of them, so some are falling out of his arms. He is taking the situation rather humorously, with a laughter. There are captions saying: "why can't i, catch all these exceptions?" with a bunch of Scheme "(raise )" with the limes right after the "raise" and before the closing parentheses. The limes and not being able to hold them all is a metaphor for exceptions, a bad idea in programming language design, and the impossible task of correctly handling them all.

Handling errors in some programming languages is a pain in the arse because unexpected errors bubble up at you as exceptions from unexpected procedures. Other than reading the documentation or reading the source code, there is no way of knowing that in advance. Maybe using 3rd party tools, I donโ€™t know, but thatโ€™s also a huge pain in the arse.

Scary stories that happened for real: Mannequin Man

When I was just four, my parents and I moved to a new home. There were no doors and it lacked most of the furniture. For some time all my stuff was at my dad's office. ...but what permanently burned into my brain, was the first floor. I clearly remember the dread, when I realized there were no stairs. The only way up was a wooden ladder, the view from the first floor kept me up at night. To this day I have nightmares where I fall from there, head first. Terrified, I slept in my parents' bedroom. One day I woke up later than usual. Through the empty doorframe, one could see the place, where the staircase should be, so I often checked it compulsively. That's where I saw it, a human's mockery. Although its eyes were closed, I knew it can see me. I know what I saw - as tall as a tree, and as pale as me - the mannequin man.
